Tribute from Damien Thank you for being a second dad to me and my brothers, Nigel and Kevin and a much-loved granddad to our children. We will miss you pops. Rest in peace. All our love, Damien, Jacky and family Tribute from Nigel Mum, Malcolm, Chris and Pat, Pop gave me a roof over my head, he helped me get my first motorbike and gave me three great stepbrothers, but more than that he loved my mum. To me he was pop and I loved him.

A Tribute to Dad What can I say it is the end of an era? We all knew and loved our Dad and he is going to be greatly missed and leaves a massive imprint on all our lives. As said before Dad wasn’t the easiest person to get along with, but he was still a hero to me. He’s the only person I know who could role a cigarette one handed, light it and smoke it whilst driving and he could drink a pint faster than any man I know, but not at the same time I hasten to add. (May not be much to some people, but thats hero in my book.) He came from a tougher generation where views were different, however he has come to all of our rescue many times: Malcom with his broken cars, Kevin with burning cars, Damian in his time of need, Nigel in his hours of need and not forgetting Pat, supporting Pat and Sarah when they set sale to the land of OZ. Whilst I am paying my tribute to Dad, I would also like to say a very special thanks to Christine who I know has the patience, kindness and generosity of a saint and dad did test that so many times. Despite this she was always there and loved him until the end and we can’t thank you enough the love of his life our Mar. Without any further Gabbing some of his grand daughters were sadly discussing where Grandad pops had gone and little Lottie said he’s ok Grandad has gone to play in the green hills, we would all like to think so Lottie. (As a dear friend once said recently I just hope he’s got his mower with him) He once said to me when I was at very low ebb and to lift me up. We Friers if we fall down we just have to get back up and get on with it. Great advise Dad and that’s what I have always tried to do. Where ever you are dad, be at peace enjoy yourself and we will all miss you and look forward to meeting with you another day. Chris

Tribute from Grandson Nick Grandad has set many examples for us to follow and learn from. It is only now looking back that I am able to appreciate how welcoming he was to Louise when she joined our family and it will always bring a smile to me to remember his reaction to a video of Oscar when he was not reacting to much else. It shows the importance to which he put family, and many times he spoke to me of the pride he had in Chris, Pat and my dad. When speaking of work, an early question in every conversation was always, ‘are you happy?’ And that is something which we can all learn from. I will remember times spent together, such as BBQs in the garden, oddities, like the fascination with how my car was running. But mostly I believe that if I learn from, and make my own, some of his ideas, particularly his desire for his family to be happy, he will always be a part of my life. Tribute from Grandson Mike My most stand out memory of my Grandad is, surprisingly not when he bought me Dennis the pet hamster, but of what a proud working man he was. When I went to university to study politics he was insistent that I would be the future Prime Minister and lead the Labour Party to victory. Not quite. But when I saw him he'd often lean over and say "still supporting the right team?" And then we'd have a long chat about why the Labour Party is not what it used to be...but is still definitely the right team! I think it was this working man's attitude that gave me my fondest memory of my Grandad. Not too long ago he told me, with a twinkle in his eye how proud he was of the work my dad and my uncles had done and he wanted to make sure I knew I should be too. He loved his family more than anything and had a big proud heart for all them.
